Hi, the BIGGEST problem in this game to me is when you are on time acceleration & you come accross aircraft, I have the visuals in sensors.dat set to 16km but this has no effect. This is the first patrol, you are moving around with time compression set to 512x, all of a sudden KABOOM bombs have dropped on you (scares the crap out of you!

Use less TC? I think that's about the only way.
For me the frustrating thing is the "Warship spotted" message, followed by TC down to 1x. This gives me just enough time to watch the DD slice through my bow. Very unpleasant. |

Yeh but cripes it would take forever to get anywhere, the same problem still occurs at even 128x, with the sensors.dat visuals set to 16k when it does drop back to 1x with a kaboom you look around and theres nothing around, not even on the map! then the WO reports aircraft & yes it is now displayed on the map!
![]() It would be great to find a fix! ![]()

Hehe. I didn't say it was a *good* solution!
![]() I'm just impressed that you are getting attacked by aircraft. I haven't seen or even heard one in about 30 patrols. |

Yes I suppose it depends on where your patrolling, at the moment I'm just passing north of the Orkney Islands!

I too recently became aware of a lack of air contacts in GW 1.1 - rolled back to vanilla as a quick test last night and bingo.... aircraft spotted.
Playing late 1942. Am playing GW 1.0 in 42 tonight to see if I can get airplay... While I was playing 1.0 before (w/aircraft), I was almost always early war 39-41. I am pretty sure that this started when I did the 1.1 upgrade, but it is quite possible that another RND or SCR got mixed in somewhere by mistake, so I am not ready to say it is GW 1.1... |

Interesting observation.
If it's fact, it's a bug. During my first mission at September 1939 (GW 1.1) I was attacked by plane near Scotland. I'm on second patrol now without planes. |

You know funny thing before reading this thread, I had not thought about it,but now come to think of it I get very little if no air contacts whilst on patrol and I'm also using GW1.1. In fact I can tell you just how many.....I'm on my 4th patrol all north sea area AN and AM And I have had just ONE air contact that was at uber TC and before I could get to X1 TC it was all over.....

Funny how things work.
I am running GW 1.1 and am on my second patrol in late 1939. On both patrols I am getting plenty of aircraft contacts in AM and NE of there. I run at 512 TC (16k vis mod)now because it reportedly improves your crews ability to spot aircraft...something about the detection routine that I read about in another post. In 1 1/2 patrols I have been attacked by aircraft 5 or 6 times. One spotted at "long range", 2 at "medium range" (no attacks from any after crash dive), one or two "close range" spottings that dropped after/during my dive (no damage), all were at 512 TC, and the last...I was at a dead stop on the surface waiting for a single ship to sink (at 1x TC), light fog and overcast, when I was surprised by a Sea Hurricane that luckily made a bad drop and only caused very minor damage. I was on the bridge at the time and actually heard the aircraft engine about 3 seconds before the attack. I was wondering what the noise was...next time I'll know better! What TC are you guys patrolling at when you have no aircraft attacks?

I'm running HT 147 not GW, a little less aircraft would be nice, my first patrol in 39 and have been attacked atleast 2 dozen times, anyone would think it was 45!! Mind you My patrol is in AM so very close to Englands Mainland.
