Mine Countermeasure Warfare

Hi, all-

This month I'm finishing up a class on military power, and my term project focuses on examining the naval battle that would ensue if Iran were to try to blockade the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict starts with Iran planting sizeable minefield, with some surface vessels scattered along the coast, and their submarine assets positioned just inside the mouth of the Strait. The U.S. then tries to "open the door."

To be honest, I've been coming up short in a few areas of my research. I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to answer some questions I have regarding mine countermeasures operations, and possibly aspects of surface combat in general. Nothing too specific, and I've gotten quite used to hearing "I can't answer that" at this point in my research, so I won't pry if something's off-limits.
