Default What did I do wrong?

I just reinstall SH3 and updated it to current version as well as GW mod. I went on my 1st patrol, which was to go to east of the African coast. On my 4th or 5th night I submerged to do passive check for any contacts. I picked up contacts to my east and after keeping tabs on it I determined the convey was heading south at 7knots so I set my course to mirror it but keep it at my 7-8 o’clock. I got to about 5000-6000meters of my closest contact. After shadowing the convey for 5-6hrs one of my crew yells out we have been spotted. I wanted to ID it as freind or foe but before I know it, they were shotting at me. Do they engage any sub they spot?

Here is my issue. I could not see a thing but my spotters did. I’m playing with all real except I currently have the weapons officer active, just because I cant see poop at night. I was sitting in the dark playing. I’m not sure way this is but my nights are like "advance darkness". It’s really taking away from my sub simming!

What are my options?

Hello,
to make the night black as a mole was to reflect reality in a way that the original shimmering and reflecting sea of SH3 would be exchanged with a more believable appearance. However the real sea's surface does indeed shimmer sometimes, as well ship's silhouettes can be seen against the horizon. The modders made it to look ok on their monitors, but CRT monitors of different make and model certainly differ, as well TFT ones behave differently again. Solution is to adjust the brighness and/or contrast of your monitor, or raise the gamma settings of your graphic card.
Greetings,
Catfish

I did have the same kind of problems on a patrol yesterday using NYGM mod. On the first nights I still could see the enemy by cranking up the brightness and contrast of my screen, but in overcast weather I could see nothing at all. It was like playing blindfolded. I couldn't even see the other sailors.

Yep, my brother had they very same problem today... pitch black weather at night, during storm (you can literally see nothing).

First he was experiencing storms with no fog or cloud cover, using default GW. We installed 16km light atmosphere mod, which fixed the fog and clouds... but come nightfall zero visibility.

I'm still trying to find a soloution...
