periscope ranging charts

these four charts can be used with the periscope and uzo horizontal
and verticle range scales to measure range to target.

these charts are for stock merchants only.

from left to right, the chart gives ship type, the magnification of either
the scope or uzo, the mast height of the ship, and the ranges
of that ship in ten increments, corresponding to the first ten tick marks
of the vertical scale.

( example: if a t-3 tanker, with a mast height of 27.7 meters,
occupies the space between the horizontal scale line, which should
be at water level of the ship, to the third vertical tick mark
of the vertical scale, on the attack scope magnification of 6.0x,
then the range to target is 2116 meters.)

ranges are in meters.

ranges computed using the formula : range = mast height / sine (angle)

ranges were computed using the full stated mast height.
