Not sure the ZIP file you're referring to. There is an SHIII xml file in the Profile_2_4 zip but I take it you have that already, that has all the SH3 specific stuff. I am also trying to get this working, I have downloaded all the required files, but I get "Microphone Wizard failed to initialise" in the Shoot 1.6.4 program.

In short I have all the files you have, and no SHIII.zip appears to be necessary...

Thanks Inajira your quick reply.
When reading the installation instruction in the Shoot 1.6.4 Silent Hunter lll Profile 2_3 it states that when all downloads have been met simply unzip "SHlll.Zip" into the profiles folder inside the directory created in Shoot 1.6.4 along with the SHlll.xml file.

Ah, I forgot that. Maybe that's the problem with my install. Perhaps someone who has installed this before could help us out...

sorry, but I'm puzzled - when I started using voice-activation for SH3 some months ago, I just loaded up Shoot 1.6.4, and then made my own command template/profile (I couldn't find a german language one, and I only wanted to use a few of the key order/commands that you would actually call out to your crew, and not try to have it to where I would speak things that are just part of the GUI, like moving to the periscope or the sound room, so I made my own abbreviated command set in German that I use with Shoot). So I'm not sure what "SHlll.Zip" you might be referring to - is it just some pre-made command profile that someone has done and uploaded somewhere that you're trying to use?

Sounds to me like you have installed Shoot, but need a profile to use with SH3?

Look under downloads at subsim.com for silent hunter 3 voice commands 2.4 - that contains the SH3.xml file which is a profile for silent hunter. Just drop that into the profiles folder of shoot and you should be able to use it.

We both have the SH3.xml file. Personally I just can't get the microphone wizard to work - "failed to initialise".

As for the SH3.zip I'm not sure it exists.

Thanks Guys
This is what i found in the Shoot 1.6.4 Silent Hunter Profile 2.4 Document

"Once these conditions have been met, simply unzip SHIII.zip into the ‘profiles’ folder inside the directory that you created for Shoot 1.6.4. Along with the SHIII.xml file, you will find 4 files. Two are for version 1.2 of the game, two are for 1.3, and of those, there is one version each for users of the resolution fix. The standard file for the most current version is called ‘Commands_en(1.3).cfg.’ Rename this file ‘Commands_en.cfg or rename Commands_en_resfix(1.3).cfg if you are using the dx9res10 resolution fix. This file is required for the extended functionality of this profile. Copy or move this file to:
C:\Program files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\Data\Cfg"

Bummer - I've had to stop using my voice commands for a while 'cause I've been playing at night on my 100" diagonal wall screen (via projector) and the rest of the family kept complaining about me shouting at my crew in German, so I decided to run a test after seeing this thread and CRAP - I'm getting this same "failed to initialize" error message as well as a bunch of error messages when tyring to load my SH3 profile.

I have a feeling that somewhere along the way since the last time I used this I have wound up installing the Microsoft .NET 2.0 update, which IIRC completely hoses up Shoot 1.6.4 which only works on .NET 1.1.

Guess I'm gonna have to do some checking about that .NET 2.0 thing and see whether I really need it or whether maybe there is a newer version of Shoot or some other voice program that will work with .NET 2.0 - if I have to choose one or the other I'd probably lose the voice commands in order to keep my big 100" picture, cause that is SOOOO AWESOME ( ) but I really did like the voice thing too for those few occasions when I could play during the day.

Anyway, if you're having problems with this Shoot thing you might want to check that .NET angle.

Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks for the advice I'll give that a try. Now just hoping MS won't freak out when I try uninstalling .NET 2.0 (must still check if that's my version) and downgrading to .NET 1.1.

As for the SHIII.zip, it seems to be just a misnaming of the profiles ZIP file that you download (and which contains the XML files etc.). Maybe the ZIP was named "SHIII.zip" at some stage and they forgot to change the name to the new one in the documentation.

Cool - glad to see that worked - I'm thinking of doing that myself, but I'm still trying to figure out what it was that I installed that needed .NET 2.0 to work - I guess I could just do it and see what breaks
