time-compress question ?

Hi All,,

Im new, so please be kind,,
Q;I have looked and looked, but I cant find this
answere,I hope it doesnt sound too-stupid,,
but,,
I know about the time-comp.-key,, but I read
about it going up to 1000+,
ok,thats fine,,but whats the multiplier?,
in other words do I have to punch the button
1000+ times?, that would get tirring,,

,
do I use the shift+time-key??
Please help!!?? :hmm:
