Default Compatibility with Windows XP Pro 64 bit

Has anyone been successful getting SH3 to run on a Windows XP Pro 64 bit platform?

To the best of my knowledge, no. As I understand it, the issue is StarFarce. There is no version that runs on XP64; they consider it a "beta" operating system. Until they change the protection so it runs on XP64, or Ubi releases a patch that would remove the disk check, I don't think it's going to work.

Providing you have winxp32bit as well, you could start again and do a dual boot install. - Partitions your drive into C & D or have two drives. Install winxp 64bit on c and winxp 32 bit on D or whatever your partition or 2nd drive is. Install SH3 on the 32bit.

Default Now SH3 Works with Win XP Pro 64!

I made the patches to SH3 ver 1.4b that eliminate the Starforce CD checker and SH3 now works with the x64 Edition. :P

So it's Starforce, and not the actual game, that is causing problems.

I feel this was an informative thread.

Default SH3 - RealUboat 1.45 also works now with x64

And for what it's worth, the RealUboat 1.45 user mod installed on top of the patched SH3 and works well on the Win XP Pro x64 Edition platform (dual core AMD 4800+). I will assume then that the remaining user mods will probably work too.

I don't have Windows XP 64, but I thought it had the ability to run applications in 32-bit mode? Is this not the case?

32-bit applications work fine, 32-bit drivers don´t work at all. The SF driver that comes with SH3 is 32-bit.
