Any submariners still proud of their ship's accomplishments? I am.
I came across this description about the submarine I served on as a fire controlman. Still a source of considerable pride for me, this description makes reference to the competition that provided me a path to success while I was in the Navy. http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...vy/ssn-722.htm |

most definatley i served on 2 deterrent patrols and 6 different ssn's and am currently a opso on hms sceptre we have done alot of things that i cannot mention and they mostly go unrecognised except in our own minds anyway medals are for show only and because of the nature of our buisness we dont get rcognised for many of the things we do in that way . its not a bad thing if u go around looking for medals then i think your a danger to your shipmates ,we just go about our buisness and are happy people dont really know what we get up to

I was looking around the Global Secutity site, and was reading about the USS Los Angeles (SSN-688). I had no idea she was that old. I know the Baton Rouge (SSN-689) was laid up and decommisioned after the collision with that Sierra, and that her age was a factor. But I didn't know the LA's had been in service that long.
