Default Your Best Salvo??

What was your best salvo so far?? How many ships did u hit in one attack run? Did they sink? How many survived?

Im just starting to play this like a real uboat commander and i had a great salvo. Well for me.

In one attack run VIIB April 1940 against a convoy, with 3 torps left after a complete luckless patrol (5 torp falrues, rest misses on other lone ships), i got all 3 hits. A Norweigan small freighter and a british c3. 2 hits on the brit, one on the norway. Brit blew up and broke into pieces, the Norweigan one is listing hard to port but doesnt show signs of slowing down or sinkin. bah NYGM Ship Sinking Mod. Anyway i was trying to swing around hard to hit another ship with my aft tubes but was spotted after the commotion had set in. But so far, i dont think i ever felt this much satisfaction in this game!! Took me like 3 hours just to get into a good firing position, another 30 for aiming and planning, and BOOM! It really does pay off!!!

My probably best salvo was few months ago. June 1940 and my IX B U-105 about 400 miles WEst from Gibraltar.
I encountered a large convoy. The sea was plain so I kept the distance of about 6000 m on the starboard of the convoy. DUring the sunset, I got closer, to about 3500 m, increased speed to GroBe Fahrt and started to turn. Fired 6 torpedos, each one against one ship. One dud, but the rest got their targets: one C 3 and one C 3 sank immediately, one C 2 was badly damaged, one small merchant was blown up and another c 3 got a moderate damage.
I went off the convoy at flank speed but remained surfaced - I went fast enough to avoid detection. After reloading torpedos, I `ve finished off the previously hit vessels.
Well, that was a GOOD action

Not very succesful runs for me, but in my last patrol...
six torpedos launched ...

two c2, stopped in the water , (2 rear tubes)

one c2, heavy damaged and 2knts of speed, (1 fired)

a c3, broke in two and exploded (2, fired to the cruiser but it evade and hit the c3 )

a cruiser, damaged by one torp... runs away

i finished the three c2 with the deck gun while reloading external tubes

now i´m reloading and planning the night attack ...the cruiser the first target .

14 torpedoes left in my IX-B

BDU End

Well.... perhaps it cannot be noted as my best salvo, but recently I took down two C 2 after single hits AND a light cruiser that sank after only ONE hit in the stern... out of 4 torpedoes, one missed and all other did their work....

What impressed me the most is how easily the cruiser sank after only one hit. There were no explosions, no ocean-shaking ammo hits, nothing. Just slowed down and than sank in about 30 minutes.

My best salvo was a freakin lucky shot ... I didn´t believe myself that I scored hits But here the story.

Was cruising north of England somewhre near the shetland Islands I guess, moderate seas, foggy, couldn´t see anything... I dived and my sonar operator told me a warship, fast, coming in. I listened myself and hell... Several Warship screws. I started to ping them like hell and having a an idea where the are and what heading the have, I surfaced and rushed with flank speed without recharging into an acceptable attack position.

I extended the line on the map, covering my ping positions, and it went directly to scapa flow. Measuring the time, I guessed they were doing 20 knots. Too far for my boat. When I arrived at my plotted attack position, I submerged again, listened again, an found out by pingingt that they are about 2500m away...

Okay Plotted out an AOB from the Map, set the distance from my pinging, enemy speed 20, the only chance to fire was NOW. 4 Eel, Impact, depth 5m spreac 3 degrees FIRE... waiting... waiting... waiting... Scheisse, nothing happend, must have missed.

Then suddenly IWO yells out! Torpedortreffer! ...again Torpedortreffer!, Torpedortreffer!, Torpedortreffer!. Hell all four fishes have struck their target. With the skope popped up, I rushed to the position of the impacts, guided by the flames shining through the fog. Hell, I blowed a Nelson. Sitting deep in the water with list to starboard, an behind the Nelson, a Sovereign warship... sitting there a 0 knots

Tube 1 & 2 was reloaded allready... well they have been delivered promptly to the Royal Sovereign. Lucky hit, it blowed up to pieces after the 2nd hit. The Nelson got one stern tube shot as coup de grâce and went down. I got deep down and silent away, because the escorts whre pissed of, pinging and throwing cans like crazy... time getting outa there.

Two warships sunk - hitting the first without visual contact... This was a damn Eichenlaub and Schwerter Patrol

I´d have to say that my best salvo has been the one I sunk the Illustrious CV.

Four TI´s from ~2500m. Every single one struck the target.

I'd say my best was a four shot spread fired at a liner. 100%, manual TDC. Range was about 7500 meters at firing, with an AoB that was already 90 degrees at a fast moving target making 21 knots. Because of the distance the fish would have to travel we had to run 'em slow, which meant only a rough 9 knot overtake. I reckon the overall run on the fish was well over 10,000 meters, the run time was over 10 minutes!! One fish of the spread hit, which stopped the liner. My last two fish were then fired from close in, but failed to sink it. Here's the screen from the moment the shot was fired.

You know it's a long shot when a liner is hull down! Not my best in terms of sinkings, but certainly the best 'shot' I've fired.
