Default Sliding Minefield Map (BETA test)

This is a sliding map of the British Isles that shows up in the Navmap station.

I am just beginning to understand the menu ini and I hope that I have gotten everything correct. Any feedback and help would be appreciated as this is my first SH3 mod.

The map itself is just the contour outline and no minefields and subnets are located on it. I did this because I have several mods installed and a custom scr layer. Because of all the various mods out there, several users will not have the same minefields installed.

You can use your favorite paint program and add them to your own map.
The readme also includes intstructions on how to add the map to the SH3 Commander structure to have different sets of minefields show up throughout the war.

Hope you enjoy it.

Here is a bit smaller map for those who want it. I had to change the tga though as I was having trouble seeing the contour lines. I can change it to a greyscale if your minefield places are not showing up well.

I forgot to add in the readme that the map position was set for all of my different slideouts and that it may look odd or overlap some of yours. You can edit the position by changing the values in this line:

Pos=-300,1375,850,650 <----Numbers -300,1375 are the positions

Thanks everyone for the comments. I hope that it was easy enough to install. Also I guess that you could use this to mark airbases and ranges and just about anything else as well. Feel free to mod it as you like.

It is a taken from SH3 itself. I tried several different LODs, DRGs and DEMs and none of them matched the SH3 contours very well. I have no idea what UBI used to model the earth's surface as I couldn't find any match on the USGS.

I think they might have used this:

I keep seeing references to it in alot of the code. They have alot of the imagery scans in the downloads section.

I think they used the Blue Marble images for the big map.

Latitude and longitude are very easily calculated using these images.

I always wondered why the raw maps had different contours from other topo maps. Thanks for the link TimeTraveller!

Does anyone have a working link for this nice looking mod? I've searched the usual suspects but haven't been able to find it.

Cheers,

I agree with Cmdr Gibbs , if this kind of map could be used for the actual Nav map it would be a great boon , as the contours give more meaning to depth under keel

Fantastic if this could be implemented !!!!!!!
