Default How to hit a destroyer?

I tried this several times, but almost always they mis target. Even when i'm close to them. Sinking the rest of the ships is ok, but destroyers are hard to get. I use the electrical driven torpedo's.(to bad they aren't fast)

With a very Big Stick !

Seriously tho, best results is achived by stealth with an electric (DD dont know your there) or Acustic Homing Torp (so long as the DD's between 10-23Knts, the A-torp speed is 24Knts). Last but not least T1 set for fast at close range with DD at speed (best when he's runing at you ahead or astern).

T1 set at high speed and the destroyer at 600m is the best for convoy escorts, time it after they have just finished the last major turn. It also good for down the throat shots.

Electric torps are better for lone escorts thet are running along fat, dumb and happy, it's means you can fire at a greater range.

Homing torps (got to love em!!) are best for high speed targets that are manovering, depth charge attack and so forth, and are close in. Just remember that time give to impact will be off as the torp will home in on a moving target, and it may have to chase the target for awhile (if the taget goes faster the the torp's top speed it will get away in a tail chase).

remember it best to leave escots alone and hunt the big boys, not the tiny tots.

Good hunting and may the sound of screeching metal be of your enemies and not of yourself.

set the torps run depth shallow manually, dd's don't set deep so maybe the fish are runnin' under them.

I've notices any escort running at a good speed can't "hear" a fast running T1, buy I'm still in '41, so maybe the destroyers get better later.

There was an old post, here in the forums, where a good Kaleun was describing a way to hit the circling DD.

I think that you must disable the "lock" and fire the torpedo @ 0 heading a little bit before the front part of the DD is on the "0". But I might be wrong.
