Here's a screenie I took a while back. When I encountered it, I used the periscope underwater to see it & navigate a parrallel course until I found a way in.

The one in Scapa flow is in the main entrance to the harbor, on the east side of the entrance running towards the middle of the harbor, it doesn't go all the way across though. If you sneak through the middle of the harbor, you won't see it; if you try to hug the eastern coast into the harbor, trust me its there! I found out the hard way!

Also, what is that awful short screeching noise I hear sometimes when I load a saved campaign patrol in the middle of the patrol? I can't remember exactly, but it seems like its when I'm in a harbor, not out in the ocean. A while back, a post in a thread said it was a subnet, but that didn't make any sense. Do subnet's make noise or something? Or is this terrible brief noise from a different source, or some sound bug in the game?

From this site:

http://edseek.com/archives/2005/05/0...urvival-guide/

Miscellaneous Stuff:

What’s the awful loud noise when I start a mission?

That’s the sound of your boat in proximity to a subnet. It can be disabled by renaming data/Sound/Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_int.wav to something else. You can also rename Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_ext.wav if you don’t want the external sound either.

But why would being in proximity to a subnet create that awful noise?

Default Subnets?

Subnets, appear to be made of substatial chain links connected in a heavy mesh, hung from submereged bouys.I don't know why,but if you set depth under keel, for target magnetic pistol your fish explodes on impact with net,Why then,if at all stop, could you not fire second fish through first hole? Surely it makes a hole?Come to PD.set torp.run depth to 1m. impact.navagate to best broadside position AOA(angle of attack) It took 3 fish for a tanker someplace, can't remember! Youall can see,I love port raiding beware of mines, save before getaway, incase you don't!

You might want to try Sh3Gen, which will give 'intel' on where fences and mines are located. There's also a slider in the latest version, to give more, or less intel. It's a very nice mod :|\

at: http://www.global-explorer.de/

You'll need MS's .NET Framework v1.1 to run the program.
