SSG or SSGN?

The Chinese have built nuclear boats before, I wonder if they're back at it with this type. I know that they're replacement for the Xia is supposed to be nuclear powered.

Very interesting...I wonder what the large plane on the back of the sail is for :hmm: ? You've gotta give it to the Chinese, they always keep you on your toes.

Well, its got to be one or the other...... Either it is a Song or it isn't !!

So whats it to be ??

btw 039G is a Song

And looking at it it does look exactly like a Song, only a very new one. Which they are still building at a rate of about 2 per year I believe.

Nope Kap that’s not a Yuan it’s a Song with the new sail (they changed the stepped version in the production models). 100% sure about this. See the bow is wrong for the Yuan. This is what the Yuan looks like:

What I’m more interested in is that thing where its screw should be! Anyone else notice that shroud?

Yep, I have a model of the First Song with the stepped sail, then they went to a uniform sail.

Can't see where they have room to put the VLS..but then you could argue any sub that carries cruise missiles becomes and SSG.

Once again Kapitain you have claimed something without checking it out....

talking about Chinese subs what happened to Kilorocky...haven't seen him for ages.

Is that a shroud or a barrel TLAM? I know there's a barrel there but there seems to be something to the left of the barrel, whether it's a part of the barricade though...
Nice pic though to be sure.

Alternatively....do you mean that red object next to the leftmost crane actually IN the shed?

Appears to have about 16 vanes, could be part of a pump-jet, or a big reel like the ones towed arrays or cables are stored on.
