FireFox here also. Granted, my wife doesn't like it at all since it's "new" to her. Even though we've got SBC Yahoo! DSL's browser which includes tabbed browsing, she won't use it either.

I know the arguments that speak in favour of Firefox. I have installed 1.5 myself, but rarely use it.

Because I cannot work around one simple observation. I use IE6, with very restrictive settings, maximum security settings. This usually works fione for me. When I need Java or Active X, I switch to medium settings for a minute, and then back to maximum again.

I do active scans of my HD twice a weak, via Antivir PE, Adaware, Spybot and A-Squared. If I get one alarm in a year, that is much.

when I have used Firefox more often (version 1), I got one or two dozens from scanners on every active scan.

Conclusion: much more unwanted problematic stuff reached my system when using Firefox than when I use IE with max settings.

It may be against the doctinre and widespread opinion, but the way i handle IE6 is more safe than the use of Firefox, as counted by number of alarms. I am no insider, I can't explain it, it simply is my observation.

I have tried Firefox 1.5 as well. And active scans again bring unwanted results. Sinc Firefox has no features that I miss or that I need, I do not consider it to be a loss.

Although it looks great, better than Firfox IMHO

I miss the following features:

- Open new tab when typing url in address bar
- Open all favorites from a certain favorite folder in 1 click

OK looks good but I want to know why when I am already connected to the net that when I click on a link ro go to another web page the bloody dialing box keeps coming up. Regardless of how I set the connection settings it happens and is bloody annoying. Other than that it's fine.

Seems with IE6 /7 you have more control over program options etc...

Who knows I might go back to it. In many ways I preferred the layout of IE6.

Anything but IE. I dislike IE with extreme prejudice, to the point of ridiculousness

IE kinda sucks. I really dislike what it does to my users in file downloads (Do you really want this file, click here if you do!). i mean, if i didn't want the file, do ya think I would have clicked on it??? Duh! Anyway, Firefox is very similar to IE 7 and the very look of IE 7 was stolen from Firefox on Linux's KDE desktop! IE 7 is no more than Firefox on KDE to me and I have already been using that for a while!

-S

PS. Add a good proxy to Firefox like Privoxy and it is the best browser combo you can have.

I'll stick with the "second stream" developers as they seem more committed to their products than Microsoft has ever been.

For example I switched completly to Trillian (all in one instant messenger) and have never looked back. Or an even better example is Open Office 2.0. Sure you lose some of that functionality you've become accustomed to, but change is the name of the game.
