"They're spending millions tarting up Liverpool city centre but can't find anywhere to rehouse U-534. I've been around it twice. It's a fascinating piece of history and although much of it is water-damaged there's plenty to see. The boat is still owned by the company that salvaged it. It'll be interesting to see where it ends up. " http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boa...f=142;t=001941

Sir! What was that noise? ![]() Ironically the Shorts Sunderland is code letter U of No. 461 Squadron, and the submarine is U-461. |

Having formerly lived on the Wirral, I have visited U-534 and driven past it hundreds of times. I would hate to see it go. It would be a great loss of history.
I wonder if there's any chance to combine it with the museum at Prince Albert Docks? |

Years ago I spent a happy morning being taken around what is now called the Western Approaches Museum - this uboat would be the ideal exhibit to combine with it.
Given all the money being spent on redeveloping the dock areas of Liverpool how can they fail to come up with some money for this worthy cause? If only the Beatles had served on a Uboat.... Malcolm |
