Default God Looks Out for Children and Fools

And He was certainly watching over me in THIS case!

Was sneaking into Loch Ewe at periscope depth, ahead slow, time compression 1X.

This takes a while so while passing time, I go to external view just browsing around and when I look under water, I discover that I have just finished passing through a mine field on a straight course!

Talk about "pucker factor!"

From the bow, looking back, I could see these things all over the place. Now had I intentionally tried that, I probably couldn't have done it in a thousand attempts.

Needless to say, I left by a different route.

Pheuv!!!! Been there, limped home on surface

Own experience;

Take a trip at PD between Dover & Calais during late -44. They are many of those ugly things moored perfectly to catch a sub but leave the DD:s safe.
I go slow and keep 1-2 m above bottom surface in order to pass under them. / Per
