Default CTDs

50% of my games end in a untimely CTD . Its really a downer to the gaming experience. Especially whenever I've just got into position to launch my torpedo strikes, let the first salvos go and then poof

Its not the power of my machine, because it can run more taxing games easily.

Anyone know what the problem is? Any suggestions? I know that we once had a CTD thread going, but I can't seem to remember where it is.

It would be helpful if you post more detail about your machine specs and your DW settings. Plus of course what mods and patches you run and since most recently if you have the BFC or SFC version.

A good tip on what should be included in the list of specs and stuff can be found over at the SCS Forums. For an example take a look at this thread (way down) - http://www.sonalystscombatsims.com/p...opic.php?t=231

My computer
Intel Pentium III Processor 2.6 GHz
512MB RAM
Windows XP
Radeon 9800 Graphics card

1280x1074 resolution
water quality low
reflection off
pixel shading on

Does DW have a crash log that it keeps somewhere?

By the sound of it, if you upgrade to the 1.3 Beta patch it should take care of your issues.

As Joe said, what version of DW are you playing with, Deathblow?

Thanks!

I'm playing with the 1.03beta patch. I really can't pinpoint a consistent trigger for the CTD, but I can say that they only occur after I've been playing for 30-45min in the middle of a game... never at the beginning of a mission.

Next time the crash occurs I'll look at the windows prompt carefully to see if I can find anymore info

I have the same problem after a recent re-install of Patch 1.03 plus LwAmi 3.0, except instead of a CTD,
the game freezes for varying periods. The Prob starts after 20 mins or so. Its happened in the Quick Missions so not too
much happening for the processor to deal with.

Never had it before and I have all other progs, including Anti-Virsus, firewall and Go-back shut down. :hmm:

Well I used JSGME to remove LwAmi and now the problem has gone. :hmm:

Had no probs with a previous instal of Patch 1.03 + LwAmi mod 3.0 - all I did this last time was to add the 3.0b
doctrine changes from Bills.

Looks as if another re-instal is due.

I've been a little busy, so haven't had time to play in a few days. Still haven't had the opprotunity to reproduce the problem. Hopefully some free time will come up this weekend

Overcame the freeze problem. As usual it was something right under the nose.

I rarely use 3D but after a reinstall had been checking out some techniques practising in QM with 'Truth.'
I had not revisited the graphics settings and the freezes seemed to indicate memory loss. They were all on 'high'
by default.( Not such a good idea SAS for those with older PCs and graphic cards) On making several qualatitive
graphic downgrades the indicated likely framerate had climbed to 92.

All is now working well as before. Any connection therefore with LwAmi 3.0 was therefore coincidental .
