Well, the best place to learn the game is at the Commanders Academy and Dive Center!

I'd try this thread.

http://www.orionwarrior.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40

There are also many very good guides available for download at the CADC, as well as Bill Nichols www.subguru.com , which is the best place for user created missions!

My personal advice is to start with the Kilo, and once you get a hand on all the stations and how the Nav Map and battlespace work, you can either move on to the 688i if you want another sub, or try your hand at the MH-60.

Welcome aboard!

Cheers,
David

If I had to guess, based solely on the number of new players I have seen in the last two weeks, I'd say pretty damn well.

Liar! I purchased the last copy of DW at BestBuy yesterday! It was me, not you!

Seriously, my BestBuy on Long Island had one last copy on the shelves. I think for a hardcore sim, this game is becoming popular. I NEVER expected DW to be hard to find on the shelves in a retail store---not when so many mainstream games were sitting in abundance.

Now I just need to be patient until the printed manual arrives. Fortunately, my SC experience can carry me a few days. LOL!

You know, I think what would really push sales through the roof is the availablilty of a comprehensive tutorial that will make a beginner decently competitive after a few short hours.

I tried to get a few of my friends into DW but they all said the same thing- too difficult. Little do they realise that everything is actually pretty easy, you just need to know a couple of tricks. Learning the interface is the most difficult part. Everything else is just tactics, anyone can learn those.

What kind of man says such a thing about any endevor? :hmm:

Seriously, you are right. What we need is a series of 7-10 missions designed specifically as tutorial missions with a progression of complexity and a detailed walkthrough with them.

I'm not so good with the mission design, but if someone want to work with me, I can formulate the missions and write the guide.

I'm thinking Four Kilo missions, 3-4 688(i) missions, and 2-3 MH-60 missions would do nicely. And most of them can be very simple: "here is the target, use some of your sensors and then fire this kind of weapon like this."

Try and take a look at the CADC : http://www.orionwarrior.com/forum/index.php

As far as tutorials go, what plattform at first glance would you like to try out?

Cheers

First, check out the 'Downloads' page at my site. You'll find many tutorial docs there.

Second, try my custom mission, "We Dive at Dawn". It's not exactly a tutorial, but it is a good mission for the beginning sub driver
