Default I Need An Update On SH3

Hello all again. I shall soon be getting my feet wet again, as I'm finally stationed somewhere I can have a computer...

I completely missed out on the whole SH3 thing, though I was the first to Demo it at the subclub meet in Houston. I bought it in like, May, but I haven't seen my computer since then. I guess I need to be brought up to speed on a few things:

1) What's the modding situation: I've seen some ocean and random ship/convoy stuff, but I'm talking more in terms of Retexturing ships, and modeling, with a possible attempt at some sh2 style modding of use of surface ships for player control. Did they ever open things up for us to make, edit, or import our own models?

2) How well is the game suited for use with FX7800GTX video card, or should I say cards... I'm going all out on a new build pc, FX-57, 2xSLI pci-e 7800gtx's with the new 16x support for both cards, plus 1 gig ram.

Are their any current driver issues with nvidia, like there was with sh2/DC back in the day?

3) Any news on possible Destroyer Command 2, or should I say, a surface sim project? I say that because i'd rather be driving the heavy stuff, ie BB's, BC's, CA's, etc.

I should be getting comcast internet in my room, so i might even dive into online play
