Default Man, those C2s are STUBBORN!

I was at the end of a very frustrating, very fruitless patrol- I'm still a green Captain, so I tend to miss more often than not when doing manual targetting - and returning home with 2 torpedoes still in the tubes, hoping I would run into something along the way. My patrol had netted one small merchant ship and nothing else except a bit of cat-and-mouse with an armed trawler who circled me like a vulture until I just shut off the engines and let him get bored into leaving.

Halfway home, what do my watchmen spot but a nice big C2. 'Course, 2 torpedoes rarely do it for me with a C2, they usually manage to limp on unless I hit them dead amidships.

I raced ahead of him (it was 3 AM) and then slowed to wait for him to catch up, aiming both my shots. I waited patiently as the torps streaked in at 700 metres, and DRAT! Both hit slightly foreward of the middle. Explosions, flames, but the danged thing just...kept....going. Now, my sub (IId?) doesn't have a deck gun. Just a light flak. Well I surfaced anyway, chased him down and was running parallel to him at 5 knots! I emptied all my rounds into him- tried to hit him astern, to set off the engines perhaps, then amidships, then set fire to every cargo container on his decks. NOTHING!! I could almost hear the seamen on deck dropping their firehoses and laughing at me. Well enough of that...I wanted this guy!!

He bobbed and weaved at a steady 5 knots- there was even a small meeting-of-the-hulls, a polite scraping if you will, as I tried to PUSH him under water. No damage to me, but none to him. He just motored off, smoking and burning and practically spitting on me as I turned away and sped off at flank.

Sheesh, talk about tough ships...

One right under the smokestack, 4-5m deep. It'll blow up nicely.

I've kept my IID the entire war and as much as I love it those situations will drive you crazy . The netcutter looks pretty sharp, I dont see why I cant use it to cut into his hull :hmm:

Your flak guns (especially the late war ones) will make quick work of trawlers and fishing boats. Not to mention those pesky Elcos
