Default 1280X1024

I re-installed SHIII and would like to run in 1280X1024. I found many references to check the community manual, but when I go to the community manual site, it says it's been hacked and it's down. Does anyone recall how to do this? Many thanks in advance.

I tried the 1280x1024 and I had to change back to the 1024x768 setting as my system crawled to a halt at that resolution making the game unplayable.

P4 3.0Ghz CPU
6600GT 128 MB card
1024 MB memory

That's strange cos you have a better performer than I do and I was able to switch to 1600x1200 resolution. With the default of 1024 768 my frames were around 80+ in rough seas and raining, now it's 55-60 fps, witch is good enough. Home base is a whole different thing of course (at least with IUB and the longer visibility), only 30 or so but it's not important since you have to be there so short times.

No I'm able to see the ship up to 17 000 meters and take a good guess about the ships size and course and in 10000 - 11000 I can count it's masts and ID it pretty well. It is really easy now (compared what it was before) to see different ships in a convoy and position yourself for a better attack. If those escorts allow me

I also have a 6600gt and only 768 memory and I'm running at 1280x1024 with no problem at all.
Be sure you have no other programs running when you play (internet, anti-virus, etc etc ).

Thats whats strange...I have everything turned off that is possible to turn off.

In your home harbor in 1024x768 mode I get 35-40 fps..at sea I get 150-180 fps. When I attack a convoy it never drops below 60 fps.

Yet let me turn to 1280x1024 and I get 18 or less fps in home port...40 and less at sea..and in a convoy attack forget it...I think it drops to negetive numbers once ships start burning.

Its been awhile since I tried it so i may try it again since I recently did a fdisk and reformat/re-install of my system and Windows.

Nothing like a good re-format to clean the system up, good luck!

I just downloaded all the files and setup for the 1600x1200 and SH3 runs perfectly now..Only seems to have some hesitation when a ship explodes but that seems to be a norm even at 1024x768.

Its about time this worked as I was getting tired of the lower resolution.I still may drop it to 1280x960 or 1280x1024 but I wll see how things go once I am in a campaign.
