Default IUB v1.02 problem

Finishing my 7th patrol (type VIIB, from/to Wilhelmshaven, April 1940) and I was excited to sample the fantastic mod work done by the community!

I copied off my saved games to a safe place, uninstalled SH3 and then installed SH3, patched to 1.4b and then using JGME applied IUB v1.02, and finally installed SH3Commander.

Loading up the game directly (not via commander yet) I selected my “In port before Patrol 8” saved game. I was immediately told that I was transferred to Kiel . Starting my patrol I was again told that I was transferred to Kiel (note it takes several clicks of the “OK” button before the game will continue). My paper orders still showed from/to Wilhelmshaven, patrolling grid AM34 (nice touch showing the extra info BTW on the orders!).

Once the game finished initializing my first thought was “why don’t I hear the band playing at the pier (I should be in Wilhelmshaven, right?)” So I wander up to the bridge… “HEY - where’s Wilhelmshaven?!?” I jump to my map, and low and behold I’ve been warped to grid EV in the Gulf of Guinea!!!!!

OK, not good. I exit the game and try again with the exact same result. :hmm: time to drop back and punt. I go back and reread the documentation for IUB. Maybe I should have deleted all my SH3 folders after I uninstalled.

So I uninstall SH3 telling the uninstall script to YES delete my saved files and all this time. Then I manually delete all of the Ubisoft folders from my hard drive and reboot my computer. Reinstall SH3 and patch to 1.4b. Load game. Everything seems to work OK. Exit game. Copy career saved games back to SH3 folder in My Docs. Load game. Load my career and start my next patrol. All works perfectly (note I was NOT transferred to Kiel this time! ). Exit Game. Apply IUB using JGME. Load game. Load Career and - TRANSFERRED to Kiel again and this time my patrol grid is listed as NULL… And to top it all off, I start out right in the middle of the west mine field leading out of Kiel

Whew. I REALLY like all the fixes and eye candy in IUB, but sure seem to be having a hard time getting my next patrol going using it.

Does anyone have any idea?

Many thanks for your thoughts!!

I think it´s best to accept the situation, start the patrol, immediately end it ("End Patrol", not "Dock at..."). The next patrol should then be ok (maybe you are in Kiel then). With IUB come a lot of flotilla and patrol grid changes, it doesn´t surprise me that there are problems when you try to continue a standard 1.4b campaign.

Roger that. I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight.

Thank you Gizzmoe for the quick response - this community rocks!
