China hands down. History has shown what happens when Japan with her small islands and meager resources goes to war a big country with lots of resources.

once as i remember but china could end up having the back up of north korea and iran they too are powerful ok not as powerful as some.

india and russia would more than likely help the west although russia supplys china with millatery equipment i dont think russia would want to get involved in a quabble with america again

Japan is larger in land mass than Germany, though you are correct on the natural resources. But keep in mind that Japan had most of Indo-China under their thumb until they decided to bomb Pearl Harbor. There is still animosity between the two nations for the Japanese occupation of China. Earlier this year, China started a diplomatic row over the way the occupation was handled in new Japanese textbooks.

I read something a few years back that said Japan has one of the world's largest and most modern navies. I believe that article also siad the Japanese navy is larger than the navy of Great Britain.

The comparable size of two opposing nations (land, population, etc) should not be viewed as a direct correlation on the stronger party either. Viet Nam, Argentina vs Britain, Afghanistan vs USSR, Isreal vs all Arab nations in several wars, Ghenghis Khan vs China, the middle east and eastern Europe... the list is long... the physical size and amount of resources does not always indicate who the winner will be.

As final thought... David really did beat Goliath.

japan does not have a larger fleet than that of the UK at this moment in time, currently 3% of japans GDP is spent on millitary if japan boosted this to some where like 45% or even up to 50% japan could maintain a fleet equal if not larger than america's.

japans submarine fleet is a very good fleet they have a very good build reserve retire cycle.

currently japan does not poses an air craft carrier nor that many frigates or destroyers.

i shall get current numbers in both fleets in about 45 mins

Interesting thread Kaptain, and fitting to our site SUBSIM.

Not Islamsim.

Not SS professional soldiers / war criminals sim.

Ok rant over...I won't vote say match null...Japan could never conquer China...but China unless they had a much more modern and numerous navy and air force would not be able to beat Japan.

Sorry for the cop out.

I think China would win for the simple reason they have The Bomb.

japan has more allies but china could have allies that are more powerful india and russia put it this way china and russia single handedly could take america on but america has some good allies and thus could turn tables.
