Default Starforce question (bit offtopic)

Hello, i readed some of you discussing about starforce messing up with software, killing dvd burners and such. Yesterday i ordered some game, and today i have been told that this game too is protected by starforce. So i became somewhat worried.

Is there something i can do to prevent starforce messing with my computer, or at least minimize the damage? Or should i better cancel ordering of the game? Any help is appreciated

Boy are you going to get some responses! OK, here goes....You will find links on this site to the latest Starforce Drivers and the Starforce uninstall tool. Download both. I have a CD Burner and two DVD Burners on my system, and the only effect that SF ever had was to reduce my burn speed by 50 percent, untill I downloaded the latest Drivers. I now have no issues with SF at all. True, the Drivers are more intrusive than SF would admit to, but they are not responsible for some of the issues blamed on SF posted on this Forum....some of which are comical. If you really want the game you ordered, then install it....install the latest SF Drivers and the SF Driver uninstall tool. There's a high chance that you won't have any SF issues and a small chance that you will.

Just to let you know, two days passed and everything works fine, my computer did not exploded, all drives seem to be working fine... just one thing is sad, the game did let me know that 512 MB of RAM are not much nowadays :hmm:

512MB should do it (it worked for me). I've since added RAM, but before that, I used a utility called FSAutostart (available at http://www.kensalter.com/fsautostart/ or check avsim.com or flightsim.com) which shuts down all but essential services, freeing up as much as 100MB of RAM. Then SH3 ran perfectly.
