Fewer Poppies this year for Rememberance Day

What, is it just me now who's wears a poppy here in Ontario, Canada for the Rememberance Day activities??? It seems like about 1 in every 50 people or less wears a poppy now. You feel like an outsider wearing one these days. Believe me, you actually look at a person who's wearing a poppy here because they're so rare to see. People just don't care about it anymore around these parts or they're too wrapped up in this, life in the fast lane world. I notice the crowds getting smaller and smaller each year at the Rememberance Day parades. I'm wondering if they're forgotten the war now, seems like it. I notice the great majority of them don't stop anymore for the 2 minutes of silence either. The roads are just as busy and people are running around just like normal when the bell tolls 11 AM. What' it like in your neck of the wood's this year???????

Well around here for Veterans Day and Memorial Day we have vets giving away poppies for a donation to the VA. But there are fewer these days. But we still have parades and memorial services in the suburbs and at war monuments.

I would'nt say it's rare to see people wearing them right now. At the college at least a good 20% were wearing one. That alone is a pretty decent number for november 7th.

my old school you rarely saw a person without a poppy

on average over the 5 years i was there we made close to Â£2,000 per year and when i was year nine we made the record of Â£3,228 not bad for a school of 1,416 people

I agree that you do not see people wearing poppies as much any more and makes me sad.

Seems only us older folks wear them consistantly.
