Default Destroyers throwing DC 40m in air at sides, unrealistic?

HunterII destroyer was around 50m from my port side, I was around a few meters away from a tanker to prevent destroyers from going above me. But destroyers like river escort, hunterII, or any destroyers that has DC droppers on sides threw DC at 50m into air acrossing water so they get to lay on me. Also I noticed river escorts can throw around 10 DCs in circle at 20m from the front thru air. Im guessing a DC is pretty heavy, probably about equal to a barrel of water or oil in weight, I dont see leverage at their DC droppers that can push DCs that far into air. I just wanna know if this happened in real WW2 time, if not then why in this game does that? Im running 1.4b patch, no mod, maybe I should have try mod tho if there are any realistic ones, otherwise destroyers throwing DCs into air seems ludicrous to me.

DCs are "dropped" from the rear...the ones you see going 50m are "shot" from a special device. No leverage involved...more like a controlled explosion.

This is correct in the later years of the war. I think they called this the "hedgehog"?

The lateral depth charges are k-gun launchers in a range of
50-150 feets and launch the 300 pound cylindrical charge (Mk 6) or the 200 pound teardrop charge.

DC mortars. Throw DC between 25 to 50 meters by the sides of the hunters.

There was also the forward-throwing DC delivery system known as the Squid.

This was, by far, the best anti-submarine weapon of the war.

And not modelled in SH3.

Though it was pretty much a very late war weapon.
