Default opening torpedo tubes

Is there any way to open all torpedo tubes prior to attack? I can open one at a time, or with salvo, open 4, but I find that as soon as I launch a torp it closes all the rest. I'd like to be able to fire one, then another, quickly, accurately, without having to wait for the tubes to open each time.

i belive if you enter the conning tower and use the panel you se to your right to open the doors they will not close after you fired your first torp.
the WO control panel in the command room might also work.

That is correct. Personally I find that using the switches at the WO station is most convenient. You simply right click on the WO, and they're sitting right there.

Manipulating torpedo doors here eliminates problems with them magically closing at the most inopportune time.

I usually click on the WO, look up and use that panel to open the tubes. And they do stay open until the next time you press 'Q'.

Cool - thanks for the reply guys. I tried this method and it mostly works. I opened them all, and some stay open. But, I find that if, after doing this, I select another tube then the tube I was on closes, but this doesn't happen for further switches. It might also close one of them if I adjust the torpedo settings. Not exactly sure about that. But, this is truly annoying - as a captain, if I order tubes open, don't Fing close them until we fire or I order them closed! I hate opening them all, going back to periscope, checking ranges and stuff, and going back to the console and finding a torpedo tube mysteriously closed! Nuts! That cost me a T3 Fuel Bunker!

I've never had a door close on me if I personally flipped the switches at the weapons station.

I've noticed that they will close as the original poster stated when opened by WO switches. If you go back to TPO and adjust some of the other torps, it seems to close them as you switch torps....

The tubes still close on me... For instance:

Let's say I currently have tube 2 selected, and I manually open tubes 1 through 5 with the WE switches. If I hit the 'Y' button (cycle torpedo tube), then tube 2 will close on me.

The workaround is simple though... After opening the tubes, don't change tubes or alter torpedo settings unless you have already fired the torpedo.

And here's an even simpler check: slow down and take half-a-second to look at the tube switches before you fire -- make sure that they are open... I guarantee that losing half-a-second is much better than losing a whole torpedo.

true...it only takes a sec, but in those hairy situations where you want to have _perfect_ torp sync, front and back, every half-sec counts. Shame to have a bug get in the way.

Try it and watch them close after a while. It's temporary. Also it only opens 1 at a time.
