Default Foul Weather Gear for Lookouts

I have installed RUB 1.44 & now I have seemed to have lost the change of foul weather gear for the watchkeepers on the bridge when surface running in inclement weather, Even when I change watchkeepers they still are still wearing their normal uniforms. I was running patch 1.43b prior to this & all was well. Any ideas (apart from re-installing game) to cure this? Is there a mod I can install which may fix it as I don't seem to find one which covers this in the mod section?

The oilskins are directly related to the weather condition settings. Unfortunately so are the deck and flak guns. RUB 1.44 raises the storm settings for each boat so you can use the guns in worse weather. If you can use the guns, you won't see the oilskins.

You can change this back yourself by going to SHIII/Data/Cfg/Submarine. You will find a line labelled 'Storm Settings', which governs the level for each boat. Of course if you lower the level for the boat you will also lose the ability to use the guns above that wind level.

Or just blame Beery and RUB for ruining the game. Again. :rotfl:

:P Thanks for reply. I try to play it as realistic as possible so I'll change the settings back to original. Cheers

You can't get them into their gear and I can't get them to get out of it!

I switched to the bridge to take a look around on patrol and all of my men are in their foul weather gear. There wasn't a cloud in the sky mind you and the ocean was about as calm as I've ever seen it but they had their gear on. I saved the game, reloaded it and they came back without it on. It's happens quite alot. Maybe it's a little bug in RuB 1.44?

More of an annoying bug than a playability bug.

Default Watchkeeper Oilskins

Yes I agree with you. However I changed the storm settings back to original settings before installing the mod & this appears to have cured the problem. Cheers.

I don't have Rub so I can't comment there but if you were in a storm and the storm passed over then you are in fine weather, don't you have to submerge then surface again for the crew to change gear?

I guess that could be it. It doesn't look so funny in rough seas but on a clear, sunny day they look kind of silly.

Speaking of rough seas...

Unless I'm wrong periscope depth is 10 meters (about 33 feet). If that's true I was in 33 foot seas on my last patrol for some time. While at periscope depth my bridge occasionally broke the surface!?!?!

I've noticed the bridge crew has a hard time keeping the boat at the correct depth in rough seas. Especially when at "all stop".

Depends on the boat, but I think periscope depth is about 12 meters. Bear in mind, though, that when surfaced you are in fact at 4 meter's depth, so at periscope depth you've only submerged 8 meters. 8 meter tall waves... groovy, but not exceptional.
