Default Place your bets

First patrol of U-53 is going a bit awry. I sunk a C2, a 4000+ton ship and now I have 2 destroyers breathing down my back with 3 others nearby.

Damage Report:

HI: 65%

Torpedo tubes 2 to 5 damaged
Forward dive planes damaged
Attack periscope destroyed
Obs Scope damaged
Radio Antenna not working
Aft dive planes damaged
Flak gun heavily damaged
Deck gun minor damage

It looks kinda grim. I've been taking evasive maneuvers like crazy, but these guys are refusing to give up and i'm scared...its only 1939, i'm not meant to be getting DC attacks THIS intense :S

Who thinks U-53 and her crew, under my leadership can pull through this DC attack to finish her patrol :hmm: ?

I think your biggest problem right now are the dive planes. You can get away from this attack but will have to make surface attacks later or surface for repair, which may result in your getting jumped. I'd say forget the mission and head back to base for a refit. So my bet is you make an escape from the escorts but don't make any more kills.

I bet my money for going party this weekend for you and your crew... at the bottom of the ocean

If you get out this situation you will be my hero
Even more if you finish the patrol.

U-53 are staunch and brave. We WILL esape and finishe the patrol.

I can still use the obs scope for attacks too when its repaired.

i dont want to just return to port without getting to my grid first, i'll lose renown for that, even through i sunk a 4000 or so ton C2.

For my money, I'd return home, repair, refit and reload. Why push it? Live to fight another day.

I reckon your odds are about 5 to 1 against. If you get one of those veteran or elite guys on you, the chances are about even, but two are nasty. If you attract a third your crew are as good as dead. Of course, if you're using the threat indicator it's a different story.

It all depends on how much reality level you're playing with, doesn'it?

I'm basically playing it on 100% realism.

The game says 91% because I have external view on...which is good for screenies :P

But everything is on, realistic reloads, limited battery e.tc.

toast am i eh?

U-53 survived the ordeal, all damage to the boat has been fully repaired. Minus the destroyed attack scope of course, but i still have a fully working Obs scope for submerged attacks

I'm presently on the surface now, travelling at 10 knots heading through the channel towards my designated patrol point, its dark and its 3:20am.

Now, to finish the patrol and get some more tonnage to our record

NOTE: I had no idea about the shift-F2 cam for the control room, that allows you to go into all sorts of nooks and crannies while you're in the con room. Are there any other sorts of camera's like this one? If so, how do I use them?
