Thanks to Flakwalker and Sansal's Wonderful new tool... THE TYPE VIIC CABLE ATTACHMENT POINTS ARE CORRECTED!!!!
(SUBsim community goes wild with cheers!) Hopefully soon the Type IX's cables will be fixed as well. AWESOME WORK FLAKWALKER!!!! THANKS SANSAL!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is your download link... screenshots are included within the mod. http://rapidshare.de/files/6681342/C..._VIIC.rar.html Thanks to Sansal's tool the gates have been thrown open to us. I wish now that I had some education in 3D modelling and/or hex-editing so I could fix this for you all. The Type VIIC was the U-Boat workhorse in the battle of the Atlantic and is probably ours as well. I imagine most of you prefer it to other types for the sake of posterity if nothing else. I think we have until now decided to turn a blind eye to a rotten graphical error that the devs either didn't notice or were too rushed to fix. Theoretically I hope believe that correcting the file responsible would be a rather quick fix for any of our awesome 3D modellers. A master file could be made and that would be that. Here is the problem: I don't believe any painting or reflective work needs to be done, only a slight re-position of the cables to meet their supports. In return, will offer the one thing I know how to do and will make it available to the awesome person that will fix this error for all of us. I will build a historic crew file for you from the U-boat of your choosing. RUb, IUb, or stock... your choice. Or I can build you a custom crew. Whatever you choose it will be completed by me within 48 hours after notification of fixing the cable problem. This isn't meant to be a bribe... I would think you guys (3D modellers) are probably getting requests from all angles... and have already given us so much. I just want to repay where I can, and SHOW you thanks instead of just taking from you. Its not much, but is where I can serve a purpose here. I hope I'm not the only one who cares about this. Thanks for all you do. ![]() PS: Sorry for the funny looking links... Imageshack is still kind of hit-and-miss for me. |

It's not just on the Type VII, that the cables don't connect. The Type IX has the same error.
Also the Type VIIC fixed railings aft of the conning tower is incorrect. It represents a pre-war configuration, when the conning FlaK gun was fixed to the after decking. |

And don't forget to remove the flag pole in front of the net cutter on some boats

In perfect conditions, do that is so easy and wont take more than 5 mins.
However I have to figure it out, because of the .obj format, maybe move some vertex wont change it at all. |

It dont worked
![]() Let me explain: I successfully imported the model on max, I corrected the cables without problems. The problem is when I export the model: 1) The exported obj is not the same size of the original one, is between 50-100 bites little. 2) Sansal tool ask for a mtl file of the same name of the modificied model (I discover it by checking the status bar on the tool) so I use the mtl on the dat file and create a new one based on it with the same name of the modificied file. Well, when I load it into the game and check the type VIIC, the game close and drop to windows. Well, altough I cannot fix the problem until a correct obj export input to max works, the procedures to fix the problem are the following: 1) Go to data/Objects and look for the turm .dat you want to correct, fix the problem is not as easy to modific one file, you will have to check what turms are the problem, because the default models available at data/Submarines dont have any problem (but you can load them to help you correct the turms). 2) Select them with Sansal tool and extract, I recomend you make a folder somewhere and extract it there because there are no subfolders for the turms and you will get a very big 3D folder, dont forget to backup. 3) Look on the 3D folder for somewhat Turm7c_1_High.obj or something like that, there are a shadow (with SHD on front) and a reflect model, you can fix the problems there if you want. 4) Once on the 3D program you load the turm and the sub as reference. On my case I had to rise and move foward the turret to place it on the correct position, on the type VIIC was easy, just make the backend attach points overlap each other. Then you have to move the vertex to a)make them in the correct position b) correct the "balls" that for sure will be floating on the space after the cable move c) make the cable to have a "natural" patern. 5) Then find something that can export it and compatible with the sim. On point 4 I was able to do it, it went really nice, however it didnt worked. Maybe other modeler can have the correct tool to do that. |

To either Flakwalker or Kpt. Lehmann,
I assume the wire fix has been applied on top of sergbuto's reflection fix, correct?

Oh, NVM... The reflections for the TypeVII were never broken in the first place...

![]() Nice to know it work on you ![]() ![]() Marhkimov, I will take care of Sergbuto fixes when on the type IX, he did a great job adding reflections. |
