Default How to Disable Auto-Identify?

Everyone,

I have found that I do not like the target being identified automatically when I pass the Attack Scope/UZO over the target. The tactics section of subsim.com says I can have it display "Unknown", or whatever I want by changing the names of the ships in the SilentHunterIII\data\Roster\ENGLISH.CFG file.

I tried it but it didn't work. The notepad still displayed the ship name, not "Unknown"

According to the tactics section of this website I was supposed to change the ship names within this file to "Unknown" in order to disable auto-identify.

;Warships
Type0=Patrol Craft
Type1=Corvette

I changed it to;

;Warships
Type0=Unknown
Type1=Unknown

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Scott

That should have worked. Just a guess, but perhaps you did not Save the file after you made your changes.

No I saved it. I even double checked it after it didn't work and the changes were there.

Dont know if this will solve your problem, but you want it so when your at periscope you get no auto-targetting, recognition of ships etc.,?

When setting up your percentage in realism turn on Manual targetting only, and turn off (leave unchecked)allow AI to auto detect. This way your get no auto targetting, but with the AI auto turn on your still be able to get your officer to do the TDC if need too.

Ok my above answer is too confusing what i meant was.

Manual targetting = ON (checked)
Turn off AI Auto targetting = (Unchecked)

This way you get NO auto targetting when eva use the scope of UZO if you want auto target you then just need use the TDC officer tab . Otherwise he wont do a thing.

Well as I understand it if you identify the ship by ticking int he manual the name will appear. Otherwise why don't you replace the "unknown" with a dash? Nothing appears then unless you say lock on, tick the manual (or have the WE identify the ship).

Hi!

Anybody know how to disable the complete Autoshown in Noteiceblock?

I mean, that when i go over a ship, that nothing is shown on Noticepad (Merchant, Unknow etc.)

Any chance to get rid of the complete first line in Notepad in Peri/UZO etc....?

I can delete the SHIP: in de_ menu.txt in data/Menu Folder....
but there still apears the UNKNOWN word if i move over a ship...

Wan`t to disable that completely, so i have to search the horizont with my Peri, to spott something!

That`s realistic i think :hmm:

Greetings Sale
