Default Relentless Destroyers

Its September 3rd 1939, U-52 was entereing the English channel when she was attacked by a small torpedo boat thingy. Minor damage was sustained to the conning tower, and a dive was ordered.

Next thing, two destroyers show up to the area and begin blanketing it with Sonar pings in an effort to find me. I have had some close calls with these two destroyers, who have been depth charging me now for the last 45 minutes (in real time this time guys). I have sustained damage which i've kept on repairing time and again.

They're proving to be quite relentless in their bid to sink me :S I am constantly making course corrections but cannot dive any deeper as I'm at the mouth of the English channel, so depth is limited. Those incessant pings are getting to be an annoyance too, espesially if there's two destroyers up there.

Quick Question: Is it accurate that the Royal Navy had ASDIC systems on their destroyers as early as this is in the war?

Yes it is...on the other hand few had radar so you know why Doenitz perferred that his crews attack at night on the surface.

Let us know how it turns out. If you sit on the bottom and go silent won't they eventually give up? Good luck my friend!

Caught in shallow waters.......
You are in a trap there.....anyway: you are lucky that it is still early in the war....the DD's are not quite so elite then, which does give you a good chance for survival.
Good luck!

it's wierd though, the destroyers thing i mean.

Some days, they are all over you like a rash whereas other days, last mission i played for example, they ignored me even though I had just torpedoed 2 C2 Cargos ships.

Luck of the draw I guess!
