Default Frigate and towed array

Usually in RL, to retrieve and deploy the Towed Array it will tame some 20 minutes.
When I try again last night, it took exactly 1 minute

I guess it should be slowed down a lot.

Would it be possible to change (in the 3D view) the towed array and the Nixie from side to side?

At the same time to land an helicopter should take a lot less time. It seems to take forever?

Well, the TA deploy speed is controlled by a single variable in the Mast dialogue, so it is fairly easy to change.

If you are using the LWAMI mod, we increased the length of the TA without changing the deploy speed, the length was a higher priority fix than the deploy speed.

We may look at changing this in the next versions, but there isn't a huge cry to make them deploy faster or slower so its not exactly priority at this point. In addition, a deploy speed of 20 minutes would probably irk a number of people, given the current spectrum of mission time frames.

Yep, exactly. You would have the array deployed looooong before getting to the point where most DW missions begin. The adjustment speeds aren't too bad, because you can do that at fast speed in real life. What takes so long on the ship is deploying the array itself (875ft) and 500 feet of cable at slow reel speed, to ensure it comes off the drum properly. Once you get that length out, there is enough force with all the stuff in the water trailing behind the ship to keep it well tensioned and aligned, then you can max out the reel speed.

The ship is also unable to maneuver normally until there is 500 feet of cable scope.

It takes about half an hour to get the array deployed to tactical length, and depending on the reel operator, can take an hour and a half to get it fully inboard. Gonna take at least 45 to get it in, though, because there's a lot of fiddling around to make sure you get a good wrap on the handling drum. I think the most time I've seen is an hour and a half, when there was a new guy working the mechanism.

It may be unrealist but I like the speed of the OHPs TA in game. For game play purposes.

I also agree the helos landing time could use some speeding up. I use quick launch all the time but landing sure is so slow it can be annoying.

As always IMHO. :P

This is something that actually really irks me about the way people play ASW scenarios in DW. I think as a result, they're usually too one-sided with the outcome saying more about whether the person likes submarines or surface ships better, than it does about the relative skills of the players and the capabilities of each the platforms involved. The challenge of ASW from a surface ship's perspective is process of searching. That's where the real chess-game of it is, and I'd imagine that's what people who were ASW geeks would get into.

If I want something that plays faster, I do an AAW or ASuW scenario.
