Hello :-)
I know this game really good, I have Radeon 9700 :-( and I do what I can to make better framerate. You probably know "wet periscope" problem ? Last night I tested older Catalysts, so, with 4.12 I have better framerate when I use periscope in storm, but still strange issue on the bridge. I'll try to explain (not easy with my english :-) One the bridge/ bad weather/storm: When I look forward, I have 12 FPS, when I look left - I have 23 FPS, when I look behind - I have 60 FPS - AT THE SAME TIME ! And vice versa - over 50 FPS forward, and for example 12 FPS when I look left, and 23 FPS when I look right.................. I'm not sure - depends on sun position ??? Sun is not visible, but mayby light position do something....... Newest Catalysts are in general slower for my old card, but I have no big differences at this moment (storm/on the bridge). THIS GAME NEED AT LEAST ANOTHER ONE PATCH - with better, smarter RAM management. One proof - framerate is much better when I use ALT-TAB for a while. But it works especially with newest Catalysts (over 5.2). I dont know what to do, older 4.12 Cat is faster in normal weather, and when I use "wet" periscope, newest Catalyst are faster (little bit) in bad weather, but slower "in" periscope and good weather. ![]() I have no many for new hardware........... SH3 is very resource intensive, especially for your video card -
I use the OMEGA Drivers for my 128MB ATI 9250 Card (ver 2.6.53) and no real framerate issues unless during huge battle scenes. I have not tried the latest OMEGA drivers yet - but for your card the 2.6.53 should work well! You should notice quite a difference in fps - but you do need to remove your existing ATI drivers first (for best results) and set your video display back to VGA - and reboot before installing the new driver. Then reboot again!! Many people on here will now tell you that the OMEGA drivers dont work as well as stock ATI drivers - that is because they have not followed the correct procedures or deinstalled the older drivers.... ![]() ...of course there might be exceptions where the later cards that have improved pipelines - do not necessitate OMEGA drivers? I will assume that anyone 'tweaking' video card performance has some previous gaming experience or in depth PC knowledge - if you dont have the experience - find a friend who does! I have used OMEGA drivers on NVIDIA and ATI cards for the last 3 Years very successfullly for high-speed gaming and simulations Give it a try - Here is the link: http://www.omegadrivers.net/

OK, I HAVE GREAT, WONDERFUL SOLUTION :-)
I have just turned off forced anizotropy filtering in Ati Control Panel, game LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME, and I have in heavy storm and rain over 40 FPS in every direction !!!! I never tried to set anizo "depend of application" (or something, i have polish Control Panel") . I always set anizo x 16 at least. It was my mistake, I'm really happy, now run like smooth in every situation !!! ATI Radeon 9700 here, Ati Catalyst 4.12, 1024 MB Ram, Pentium 4 2,4 Ghz. Soundblaster Audigy Platinum. Stary Wuj |
