Hey all,
I was just wondering if there was a mod or one that was included in SH3 Commander that randomizes keel depths for ships. One mission I was attacking a port with docked ships in calm weather and im not sure what ship it was but I remember trying to use some magnetic torps. Id set it 1 - 2m under the keel of the ship but when watching the torp pass under the ship in external view it looked like it was actually 3 - 5m under the keel and didnt explode.... ![]() Also in my carrear im currently attacking a convoy and one of the destroyers has such a shallow keel is unbelieveable. I took a screenshot of it. It looks like id need a torp set at 1 - 3m magnetic to have it explode under the keel.... Whats up with this? ![]() - ![]() Thanks, Wolfy

That does not look normal. Wierd, the DD is sailing that high up in the air?
Are you using any mod that affects the keel depth or the floatation values in the Zones.cfg files? |

Thats exactually my question Jungman,
I don't have any mod that effects the keel depth unless one was included with SH3 Commander, and yes the DD is sailing like that. Its really weard. ![]()

Can you open up your DATA/SEA folder and pick out that DD folder in there. Look at the file 'destroyername'.cfg and see something like this using Wordpad to look at it:
[Unit] ClassName=DEEvarts UnitType=3 MaxSpeed=19 Length=89.5 Width=11.1 Mast=27.4 Draft=3.4 -------------------------> Sets how high in water. Displacement=1192---------------> Sets tonnage. RenownAwarded=120 Now SH3 Commander randomizes tonnage. maybe the program is messing up the Draft number. Is your draft for that DD in your picture about 3 to 4 meters? It may show some odd ball number and that is your problem. |

Jungman,
I added another ss to my origonal post you can see what I was talking about a little better. I looked in the Data/Sea folder and opend the black swan DD folder and gave the config a look over. Everything seems to look ok here is the file. ----- [Unit] ClassName=FFBlackSwan UnitType=2 MaxSpeed=19.5 Length=91.3 Width=11.5 Mast=27 Draft=3.5 Displacement=1250 RenownAwarded=125 [2DCompartments] UnitPos=47,11,418,18 NbOfComp=6 Name1=Propulsion Area1=57,7,24,30 Name2=Keel Area2=188,7,180,10 Name3=Fore Ammo Bunker Area3=372,18,31,15 Name4=Aft Ammo Bunker Area4=138,18,22,15 Name5=Engines Room Area5=244,18,39,15 Name6=Fuel Bunkers Area6=285,18,23,15 ----- I double checked the book in the game and it says the keel for it is 3.5 too, so i donno what the deal is... maybe it's a one time glitch? ![]() Wolfy

OK. I thought ALL your DDs were having this problem. It could just be a fluke, or particular to one type of DD.
I assume it does not happen often then. |

I did take a look around at the other ships in the convoy, seems to be the only one that has the problem. The lead destroyer is also a bit higher too I think, sometimes I can see the props out of the water and never seemed to notise it before.
All the merchents in the convoy look fine, I know DD's usually have a shallow keel but some could be slightly higher than they should be. I did try to reload my last save point and see if that help but it had the same issue. Hopfully your right and its only a 1 time thing and not a bug. Wolfy

The Hunt DD series have all at 2.4 m draft. That is shallow. A fishing boat is deeper than that.
What DD type is the one riding high in that pic? It looks like only 1 m draft... |

RUb also changes the drafts of some vessels in an effort to reduce "storm sinkings."
All torpedo boats in RUb have this feature. The side effect is that they look like "skimmers." |

Kpt. Lehmann, yeah I don't use Rub, just SH3 Commander and a ton of other Misc. mods for graphic improvements and what not.
Yeah Jungman the Hunt DD's have a very shallow draft, found that out trying to use impacts at 5m ![]() and yes the ship in the pictures is a Black Swan Frigate. Wolfy
