Default Why do AXIS ships have U.S. Tanks/Trucks & Spitfires..?

If you select a Tank/Truck/Airplane loadout for any ship in the game, it spawns the same old U.S. Tank/Truck and a Brittish Spitfire on deck as it's cargo........WTH!

Is there any way to MOD change the loadout so at least a German/Italian Merchant Ship is carrying the right equipment?

Maybe add some panzers/ME109's or SPDk's to the AXIS ships as appropriate loadouts. Cripe at least maybe we could get rid of the U.S. Star or Brittish roundel in favor of the German Cross.

This needs modding A.S.A.P.

All I can guess is you could get rid of the roundels and do a paintjob on the tanks/planes with the right colors to represent German equipment but you cant put panzers there as there are none in the game and you cant add new models to the game either..

I guess you could clone the ships and paint those with the proper German insignias and give those to the German Nation so as not to interfere with the Allied equipment colors. They would still look like Shermans but at leat have the proper Gelb/Grau paintjobs and the crosses.

You can't place new loadout without cloning of the ship.

It's a shame about that, I sometimes play as a British sub, if I get that load-out on a cargo I'll have to not look too closely when I'm sinking it.

Hmm would the Germans have shipped tanks or planes by sea anywhere other than the Med anyway? Perhaps Norway, though I don't see them shipping many tanks after 1940 (not many, not really tank country) and they would have probably flown new planes in. Even in the Med I think planes were flown over...obviously everywhere else, especially on the Russian front, equipment would have been shipped in by train.

All to say maybe Axis ships, except in the Med, should not include deck cargos at all?

The Germans did not ship aircraft, they flew them to the areas. In North Africa they even stopped ferry pilots from bring in 109s because they crashed them too often. Pilots would take a 4 seat bf-108 back, one would return in that and the other 3 would bring back new 109s.

Those are Hurricanes, not Spitfires!!!!
Funny how America is shipping Hurricanes over to England, LOL

The exterior loads can be changed for the ships so they only carry boxes etc but who wants to do that?
I never see German ships as I leave from the plotting map as they just slow me down from getting down to my real business. Killen the English!!!

Now I do know that the U.S. shipped a P-51B variant to the U.K. which was used as a ground attack fighter... Texture-wise it wouldn't be too far from the Hurricane shape found on deck cargo. A modder would probably be able to just re-skin the existing one and pull off a rather close substitute.

Actually it would be nice to add some German military equipment to some cargo ships (Italian/German) in the Med, to simulate supplying Rommel's North Africa Corps.

Maybe the colors of the trucks and Sherman tanks could be painted German Desert Yellow instead, as well as adding crosses?

Interestingly, the only type of vessel that can support more than one color of deck cargo is the LST. I've used this to give an LST clone some civilian trucks and generic tanks, so it would be an easy matter to simply make these vehicles German. I have no idea why the other ships don't have this feature, though.

The Opel Blitz could be substituted for the U.S. Army truck

For that matter, with the exception of the distinctive shape of the Sherman tank, a neutral green-gray color scheme with no nationality markings could be used where cargos are basically stuck as allied material.

They must be of Canadian origin.

Isn't it possible to replace Shermans with German bikes?

Well now that segbuto has managed to import a new model into the game it may only be a matter of time before we could see differing cargoes on the ships. As well as proper ships for each side.
