Default Wound Metal

I had three sailor wounded in combat last patrol, and when I retured to port (they were still wounded) while I recieved the medals I was unable to give them out, the game said they had already recied them.

Is this a known bug??

I think there are numerous issues with the wound badge.

On a side note, I found that the medic seems to 'heal' wounded crew back to health, rather than stopping them from dying as would be expected. That would 'cheat' you out of being able to give out the medals, and makes you question the value of taking a medic with you (I qualify a medic anyway for the sake of roleplaying - i'm sure all u-boats would of had a medic)

Kalach, ditto; though I normally buy him qualified by editing my renown and awarding the qualification via SH3Cmdr.

Simsurfer, if you use SH3Cmdr, you can award the medal via that, but Kalach is right about a healed crew member not receiving any medal if fully healed before the patrol ends.

From the SH3Cmdr Help
Also note that Crew Manager-based promotions/medals/qualifications are cosmetic only, and to get the full benefit, always promote or award medals and qualifications from within SH3 if possible.

well that pretty much says it all...

Sturm,

That readme is now somewhat dated; but fair comment.

The situation now with SH3Cmdr is that, if you keep it within the allowed scope of SH3, then such promotions, qualifications, etc. are recognised.

For example

Only the first qualification of a double qualified petty officer will be recognised.

There is no point in giving a sailor a qualification.

There is no point promoting anyone with less experience then the desired rank: if a character has 22 experience, then promoting him before the required 50 for the rank has no effect.

You can enlist a petty officer via SH3 whilst in port, then exit the game and via SH3Cmdr allocate him a qualification.
Then I go to my career log in the SH3 folder/ careers and deduct 20/50/100 renown for the qualification from my renown value.

All of the above you can only do after your first patrol is completed and SH3Cmdr recognises your character.

I have two carriers going......#1 = 26 patrols.....#2 = 6 patrols.

I just returned to base in #2 patrol. As i was issueing the awards, metals, etc. I noticed that one seaman had a small button in his metal slots. I clicked on it and low and behold, this guy has a medical award. I don't remember any of my seamen on this boat being wounded. And I have never awarded a wound metal to anyone in this crew. :hmm: Must be the sea dogs at work here.
