Default "Aircraft Spotted" - Crash Dive?

Hi All,

Has anyone else wanted a Crash Dive option when your crew spots aircraft while on the surface? Would it be possible to mod this option for the popup screen with the options: Engage Target, Maintain Current Orders, Dive To Periscope Depth? Would also come in handy when you're suddenly being engaged.

You can use the C key on keyboard....or be like me and shoot them down

Savages_Wolf doesn't mean the hotkey button for crash dive (C). He wants the option box to inclue a crash dive option, in addition to the already offered Engage Target, Maintain Current Orders, and Dive To Periscope Depth...

Sorry, I'm just clearing up the misunderstanding, but I have no idea how to mod such a thing.

You have to keep in mind that if you crashdive in shallow water it's a big risk you hit the bottom and damage the boat.
On thing you can do is to have it set for "periscope depth" and then hit the "C" button only when you know you are in deep enough water for performing a chrashdive.

I'd love a crash dive option.

Rulle34 is right, I've crashed dived and hit the bottom too in a panic to escape an aircraft attack, I think you can hit the "C" then level off after you get under.

Ah, but if it was automatic you could still level off manually and it would get you under a whole lot quicker than going to peri depth.

You are right and I didn't say it was impossible.
Some idea how to mod it?

what i hate is how the stupid CE says "yes sir" when i hit C, instead of just screaming alarm, seems like a wasted 2-3 seconds

I would sooner fight it out on the surface what's the point of haveing all that AA firepower on your boat, and when you see a aircraft you crash dive?

Basically, the major difference between crash dive & dive to PD
is the speed in which you get under & out of sight. Crash dive
will increase speed to flank when used whereas going to PD
will not. I usually hit "C" only in deep water but will follow the
"C" with the "P" key a few seconds later to regulate the diving
depth when in shallow water. This works very well but timing
between the keys is critical & takes practice....
