Question re: Aircraft Markings

I just managed to clone the Short Sunderland by following Orzel's instructions. I'm planning on using it to make an H8K flying boat for Japan. Now all I have to do is create the skin and alter the technical data to match the "Emily". However, I've noticed that there is not an insignia for the Japanese Air Force in the SilentHunterIII\data\markings folder. Before I try this out, does anyone know if I can simply create a tga of the japanese insignia and place it in the folder? If not, is there another way to get it to show up? I'm hoping I won't have to have it as part of the tga for the skin, since I've heard it might not display correctly.
