both mods are at present very much a DIY service!! something to be encouraged if approached sensibly...i came up with the searchlights for merchants (by accident whilst looking for something else and as a direct result of some one else suggesting that it was possible to add new bits n bobs to the stock ships etc---these things snowball nicely when allowed to perculate in a free and easy non competitive forum thread..) and CIIP and others saw that it could allso be usefull if added to aircraft...i say petition the governors for a DIY mod forum...most if not al of thes small addtions can be achieved in a couple of minutes using nothing more scary than notepad and the key board...

I for one would greatly appreciate you posting the changes. I'm assuming we could just copy/paste to the correct file or modify certain line items to duplicate yours. I'll bet I'm not alone on this one
Thanks in advance.

I actually don't use JSGME myself (I do so much modding it's best that I don't get lazy and keep track of all the individual file changes myself) - what sort of format would I have to use for that?

Otherwise, all the mod contains is a small text file (.eqp) for each unit that would add a spotlight to all the loadouts of planes, and also to the merchants. Much easier than it seems.

I'll try to post it later today

from what i understand, you package the mod so that it is in the same file structure as the original files -- eg data\Air\ALB_B24Liberator\ALB_B24Liberator.eqp

I'd be interested in packaging this mod into IUB, CCIP.

That is, the plane version. (To planes that had them historically, and after 1942)

One question - is this mod just a "graphic" mod i.e. just adding textrues of searchlights to merchants/planes or is it a "real" mod i.e. it affetcs the merchants`/plane`s search factor (in fact, as for the planes, it should not do anything much apart from spectacular visual effect as the planes` "seeing eye" was the 1-centimeter radar.

Eep, still haven't done this. Give me a moment here :hmm:

No, it doesn't actually affect the AI's behaviour; lights only indicate that the ships are searching for you, or that planes are attacking you. In terms of game mechanics, they really have no effect on the unit behaviour.

On the other hand, they sure do a good job at confusing a human captain

CCIP, is it randomised in the mod ? it would not look too good if all of a sudden all merchants of certain type in a convoy opened up the serchlights....historically serchlight on merchant was an excpetion rather than rule.

Again, thanx a lot for this excellent mod

Well... I can't randomise it unfortunately

Personally... I like the lights since they add to the confusion. But if you want to limit them, the only thing you can do is only put in the files for some types of ships and not others.
I don't think it's possible to randomize them right now though.

I think it can be "randomized" when you add one or two loadouts. A 500kg Loadour with lights and without, a 250 kg Loadout with/without.. and so on.

Oh. You mean for airplanes, yea. But I guess it's fair enough to have them with the lights, since they wouldn't attack at night without them anyway.

But I'm not sure that the ships in the RND layer are programmed to randomize their loadouts. (can anyone confirm that?) :hmm:
