Default Cannot Hear These Sounds

Last night I installed some new music in the gramaphone file and was looking in the boat sounds area. I found several sounds that I don't recall hearing . Any reason not to hear them?
1. Sub tanks flooding for dive
2. Sub tanks blowing for surface
3. Radio room telemetry
4. Torp tube opening
5. Creeking sounds are listed as levels 1 through 4. I can only hear
level #2
I think I have an outstanding sound system. I use a Medusa headset and it gives me 5.1 sound around. My audio card is a SB Audigy 2ZS.
Am I the only one NOT hearing these sounds? How can I improve the sound performance so that I can? Or, are these some things the Devs put in the code and have not activated.
Thanks in advance for any information shared.

I do, but they are a very quiet sound. Hard to describe it.

How about the other things I mentioned? Do you guys hear any of them? To hear what they sound like, open the sound folder and listen to each one.

Well it's like the voices. A lot of them I never heard (coughs, groans, cheers...) I guess the devs had to cut a bunch of features off SH3.

But let me tell you, I much prefer a dynamic campaign to all the features that would require these sounds!

And the files are probably still there in case they would have had time to add stuff like that in the patches (yeah right!! )

What do you mean you ant hear doors opening?

Its like a PSSHHHHHH

I have the Creative 5.1 surround speaker set. I have to set it to 5.1 sound otherwise i cant hear some sounds. If its on Movie or Music sound setttings on the speaker, the game doesnt sound correct.

True. If your got only standard speakers etc., you wont hear everything, surround sound you will. I hear everything mention above, except for the cheering i dont think that is coded in.

You do hear the sub tanks blowing and flooding - they are mixed with the dive/surface sequences - so you never hear them on their own...

I increased the volume of the tube opening sound with Windows Sound Recorder, and now I can hear it when opening a tube from the conning tower. Give that a try.

Unless noted on the software, most games are recorded in four point sound. Your system may break that up into a simulated 5.1 surround sound but the positioning of the sound will not be correct. A lot of the work we did on DBSM for SH2 made this very evident. You should be able to switch the set up in control panel for four point speakers as well as from ytour surround sound hardware. You will get much more realistic sound occlusions and attenuations. Hope this helps.
