Default No torpedos and this is what I find

I just finished a patrol on a new career I started.

Its November 1939 and Im in a Type IID class sub.

The patrol went pretty well.Had to evade a few aircraft now and again but pretty much quite otherwise.I had fired off my last torpedo at a small merchant southeast of Scapa Flow.I turned for home and expected the trip to be uneventful.

Well someone had other ideas. The sun had come up and was low on the horizon when my WO shouted "Smoke on the horizon".I hurried up the ladder to the deck and looked in the direction the WO pointed me in.I ordered the boat to turn and head closer to get a better peak at what was there. We closed the distance and I ordered the boat to periscope depth and went to silent running.

I raised the scope and this is what I saw..

A Task Force consisting of a Southampton Cruiser,A Dido Class,and 5 Destroyers.

It figures..this is only my second Task Force I have ever seen and I have no torpedos to use..

So I radioed in a contact report and hopefully the Luftwaffe will deal with them.

Least you have seen a Taskforce. I reckon I saw one once Northwest of Scapa, it was foggy, stormy and they were steaming along at 25knts. So I had no hope of catching them

It has happened to me a few times before. Just when you don't expect it, something great comes along.

Same here, very bad weather. Was submerged, heard fast screws on the phones, took the scope up for a look, and there they were. One light cruiser, two distroyers , just close enough to see . They were moving in the opposite direction, and were making 25 knots. No chance to even catch them, much less set up a shot! In that weather they disappered in a matter of 5 or 6 seconds.

Outside of the single missions, I have yet to see or even get a report about a task force, and I've been playing since the game came out.

I've only had a radio report of a task force, when I was sneaking between the Orkneys and the British mainland in September 1939. It was steaming my way from the Atlantic. Trouble was the DDs in the strait were keeping me under and I couldn't get enough speed to get to an intercept point.

I never found out what happened to it .

I once got information of a Task Force moving east through the strait of Gibraltar....But was out of torpedoes and damaged after an air attack so decided to return on current course....

However one time while I was moving south through the strait of Ireland after having spended all my torpedoes on a convoy, I recieved a contact report on a single ship heading south outside of western Scotland....Single ship???? Could that be a battleship or aircraft carrier???

Typical bad luck. The first patrol of my current career sent me to BE96. On the way home, while out of torpedoes, I encountered no fewer than nine C2s. That transit was the most painful two weeks of play that I have ever had.

Holy hell. You just made me realise that i dreamt of SH3 last night.

I was in my sub watching a line of battleships and 2 aircraft carriers.

And i was sitting there trying to remember how many torps i should fire at an aircraft carrier.

That was cool i was really there.
