i can't even snorkel long enough to get my battery charged...

and don't even think about going to fast time compression with the snorkel up...

i have to stay at 32 time speed or lower in order to catch it when the compression drops indicating planes nearby...

then, when i dive... it sounds like A bombs going off above me... lots of em... for a loooong time...

this is gettin rough... we're down to 10% on the battery now...

i dunno...

It gets real bad around 44. I did make it to Jan 45 once, but all I did was basically sit on the bottom. I didn't have any luck.............

What is the desired place to be in 44-45? The Med, coast of Africa, Caribbean, East Coast, what?

Most actual uboat operations in 44-45 were in British coastal waters. (w/ snorkel) :hmm:

danke got for the rains... i just popped the scope up in a blinding rain storm...

finally i can recharge these batteries... not even the British can be flying in this weather...

hey... surface... give the men a lil fresh air on the bridge... and a natural water shower... we've been running submerged continuosly for almost 5 days... i'm sure they'll appreciate it

for the first time in SH3 i'm glad to be in the middle of a raging hurricane...

i hope it lasts a long time...

I'm also in Aug.'44, and making for blue water, outbound from St. Nazaire on patrol 27. Since the beginning of '44, staying on the surface and fighting it out with allied aircraft had become the norm for the first couple of days out of that port, and we were getting pretty good at it. We had just received word that our port had been changed to Bergen, and a were attacked a few minutes later by a lone Sonderland. Not much, considering the waves of aircraft that have come at us in the past. Even though my flak gunners scored hit after hit on this aircraft he still managed to break through and drop a bomb close enough to kill all six of them, and destroy two of three gun positions beyond repair. Those were the first loss'es for U-262 in 26 patrols, and the cream of the crop of my sailors. My snorkel was also damaged, and the starboard diesel destroyed. It's going to be a long journey to Bremen, but under the right conditions we can still attack most targets we may find along the way. Doe's anyone know how I bury my KIA's at sea? Doe's the game do that at some point?

I think you just click on them or right click, and it says "Bury at sea?" and you click yes.

A little cut scene would have been nice, or some music.

Actually, according to statistics, between April 44 (when all uboats were equipped with the Schnorkel) and February 1945 (when they got desperate), the survival rate of uboats was quite good - better on average than in 1939, even, although notably lower than through '42. It's from may 1943 to early 1944 that you REALLY didn't want to be on a uboat

So what you people are telling me is its almost downright suicidal from 43 onwards. Hell im in early 41 and im having the time of my life with the deckgun, ship after ship, its like im a magnet to them. In fact its too easy. But now i know why, im in for a hell of a ride later on :hmm:
Whats the best type to have VIIC or IX Boats for that time peroid until the XXI are available. I know the VIIC's have a better diving time than the IX boats, whether this would matter.

I would much, much rather be caught on the surface in a VII than a IX after 1943. Meet a few of my Sunderland/Liberator/Cat friends, and you'll know why
