Default Passenger Liner & Troop Ship in same convoy (pics)

I happen across this rather impressive convoy after a standard hydrophone check West of Ireland. Very bad weather, but attack was successful anyway.

Ok, first the main target. This is the passenger liner right after receiving three hits to the same area (aiming for engine compartments). Secondary explosion after two hits, so you know she's going down by the time the third hits.

While that's going down I spot a troop ship right behind me (there were actually two of them side by side). I hit miship, but only damage her. In my VIIB I only have one stern tube so I start slowly swinging by U-Boat around for another shot.

The fog made it very difficult to see what else was going on. You don't like to hear reports of pinging when you weren't expecting it. Look who joins the party. At this point I'm in perfect firing position and my torpedo crew is telling me another 30 seconds and we'll have something to fire. I wait it out and send one more fish into her side. She goes up!

By this time the destroyer is out for blood losing two valuable ships and swings around heading right for me. Pings increase so I know they know where I am. Ahead flank right full rudder! I got a good shot of the dc run which would have been right on if not for some quick last second manuevering.

This armed trawler was feeling left out. Luckily she wasn't ASDIC equipped.

We all dance for awhile...

They finally lose me and head back for the convoy.

We eventually surface and continue on to our patrol zone.

So all you captains - be careful in that fog!
The end.

If you hit the passenger line right under the first smokestack it will go down with one fish.

Hey Alpha Beta

Where did you get those redable dials from. You can see everything crisp clean

I find it very hard to use those within the game because you must guess everyting as for direction and depth

Wolfie's and Ripbud's Merged dials by the look of them.

At u-boot.realsimulation.com, I believe.

Heh, yeah I have to compare them in the museum side-by-side, I always get them mixed up.

I thought it was the second smokestack that was the vulnerable point. Either way I've been playing for quite a while and this is the second liner I've seen. I wasn't taking any chances, especially in this weather.

Sweet pics. It is always fun trying to sink ships in fog and bad weather.

Did you see that liner while playing the stock game or do you have a mod installed? I have never seen a liner in all the time I had the game. I wonder if they were left out?

I have mods installed, but none that affect convoy configuration. As I said this is the second one I've scene, so they are hard to come by. I thought I would share this since all of us using the stock game have scene enough of C2/C3/T3 only convoys. It figures to run into something like this and not see these ships in all their glory on a nice sunny day.
