US subs entered harbours all the time looking for targets. Apart from U-47, did any other Axis subs slink into any bases and sink anything? Apart from the Italian chariots or pigs or whatever they're called in ALexandria and Gib.

EDIT: (I see now that you say *other* than U-47. Oh well.
![]() There was Gunther Prien, who sunk the HMS Royal Oak in Scapa Flow in October of 1939. That was before they had their defenses quite in order, I'm sure ![]() http://uboat.net/men/prien.htm (By the way, this is a generally a good site to cruise around in) I wonder how he dealt with that HORRIBLE sound? Must have made him jump out of his knickers! |
