Default Rig for Red mod?

I remenber talk about a "Rig for red mod" some time ago...Did any person ever come up with a way to do this? or is it still a hard code issue? Some times I would like to rig for red in the day time...it adds to the times I get depth charges...... :|\

Pfft, you have watched too many films - when under water for a long period of time white was used even at night!

you dont need red light if your not looking outside

In 'Das Boot' we see blue lights used as often as red. Anyone know why ?

I don't know but I can make a qualified guess:

Red light is only good for two things, adapting your eye to darkness and reduce your beaming of light so you can stay undectected.

Red light is not good for maps or gaughes with red colours on. Everything that have a red colour will be "invisible". A much better light to "work" in is a blue-green light. Then you keep your adapted darkvision and still is able to work (you can see everything).

This is true and I have self experience in it!

So one way to use this can be that redlight was used during darkness and before entering the watchtower. Blue light used other times during night conditions.

I dont know if this was the reason though, but maybe!

I heard on the military channel that newer subs run red in the control room at night to help the men keep adjusted to day/night cycles as they are under water for weeks on end. In WWII I believe it was only used to adjust your eyes to the dark so you could pop out on the bridge and see right away.

*Educated guess, not necessarily accurate*
