Default need help with sonar and Setkeys

I tried changing a few key commands with setkeys, and I entered a new command for down scope, but in the game it didnt work. Any ideas what the problem could be? I also tried to save a printable list of the commands but could not find it I did a search but no luck . Where should I look?
I found a few commands that I did not recognize:
I would also like to know what is the difference between the regular nav map and the 2d nav map.
What is a "Watch View"
How does the Set TDC command work?

When I ran a test mission (training mission) to see if the new down scope command worked, I tried to get a sonar range to the target but the sonar was inactive. The icons were grayed out. How do I activate it? Thanks! Joe S

Only thought on the Sonar is: You were submerged? If you aren't submerged, sonar will be grayed out. You can only use the Sonar when submerged.

I tried the sonar from periscope depth and 50 meters, no luck, the icons are still greyed out.

Also tried Setkeys again, still no luck getting it to work. Any ideas? Thanks! Joe S

Could it be something simple? Check that the keystrokes you allocated are not already used for another command in the file.

I don't think it'd be something simple if the sonar icons are greyed out, I'm afraid. It could be that your Hydrophones or Sonar have been destroyed. Best guess I've got.

Default sonar type XXI only?

I finally got the sonar to work. I ran a late war mission in a type XXI and sure enough, sonar worked. I check the so-called manual to see if sonar was limited to the late war boats but found nothing in there on the subject. Should sonar be available in the type VII and IX boats also?

I am finally having sucess using Setkeys, apparently I was not clearing the default settings. thanks everyone for your help. Joe S
