I've sunnk myself on at least four occasions with those things. I love them but I keep forgetting that they follow the loudest thing in the water. Now I make sure I'm at all stop before I fire and I stay that way until it's at least 500 meters away.

I fired one of those when it ended up in my loadout without me being aware of it. I managed to avoid getting hit when it turned back at me cause I was already diving trying to hide from the destroyer that I'd fired at. It did after reaquire the Destroyer, but missed it. In fact, I've fired off maybe 5 of those, and never scored a hit with one, so I don't carry them anymore.

They were a godsend for me. I was able to take out an entire medium convoy with three escorts in very heavy fog with them. Just fire down the bearing the sound is coming from wait, followed all but twice by a bright explosion in the fog. Fifteen or so ships down and out.

Well, it wansn't all that bad- The VW I lossed at went to 35kts and a hard turn....then he slowed down to ping.

Bad move on his part: the Zaun made a 180 right over my afterdeck and slammed into his side 299m away.

Still mopping up the control room...much poopeh on deck.

You could do what they were instructed to do in the war: crash dive to at least 60 metres after firing from the bow or run silent if it was a stern shot.

strange....never been struck by my own fish...yet...

allthough, on MANY ocations, the soundseekingfish has been struck by the propeller on a DD, then tossed several hundred meters threw the air......but allways manage to kill it's intended target with a 90% killrate...

Wellcome to the club dude!

Last night I almost blew up my brand new XXI sail. I sent the bugger (ZII) towards a DD that was closing fast, it missed, turned towards me... I was flankin' to escape the DD's first DCs and I didn't pick up enough depth so the damn thing blew my conning tower.

I had mine bounce for the first time last night. Very heavy fog, good sound contact. I let one fly down the sound bearing and wait. I punched over to the free cam to get a view of the impact. The stern of the C3 comes down on a wave and the torp hits the ship's prop and flies head over heels about 100 meters, then dives for the bottom.

The second shot set for a lower depth got him though.
