Default What am I doing wrong, or is it a RUB fatigue thing?

Here's the situation:

It's December, 1038 and I'm on my third patrol (first in a Type VII). I've had a couple of run-ins with Brit destroyers and aircraft, but have escaped unharmed. I even have a couple of Brit cargo ships to my credit.

In the Western Approaches, I torpedo an unescorted merchant... It's burning just a few hundred yards off my bow. I surface to finish it off with guns.

My gun crew fire a couple of times (no hits!) and then stop shooting of their own accord. I get a message that there's not enough crew on deck. I check crew status -- there are three sailors on the gun, on the bridge there's only the Watch Officer. Everyone else seems to be in the bow compartment, taking a break. If I try to send anyone to the bridge, they just slide right back into the bow compartment.

What gives with that?

Unable to convince my gunners to return to their post, I am forced to use my last bow torpedo to sink the crippled merchant.

If this is 'realism', then it's no wonder the Germans lost! Maybe I need a mod that lets me shoot one of the lazy sons-of-bitches? That should get them motivated...
