I just finished this book By Larry Bond: Dangerous Ground, the book deals witha aging 688I and a special mission.I read the book in 1 week and I think everyone who reads it will love it.The book goes into very tech info on the sub and getting sub qualifications.

If you like modern subs a must read. Especially what you said about quals. Not a lot of action but very detailed about day to day sub ops I think.

Just be aware, the good guys don't shoot any weapons in the entire novel -- it ain't like 'Red Storm Rising'.

Nonetheless, I give it two thumbs up.

I heartily agree - also I think the book kicks more @$$ not shooting off torpedoes than a truckload of other books which have our heroes shooting off braces of Mk 48's. This may be the most readable novel I've picked up on nuclear subs in the past few years.
